Our rules pertain to the track safety and general fairness of racing. All car-specific rules are decided by the hosting organization.
Definitions:
Track officials-PDXDerbyDudes representatives at the race.
Race officials- PDXDerbyDudes and the Pack Race Master
Pack Race Master- Person elected/appointed by the host organization to be their official.
Car width shall not exceed 2.75 inches.
Chassis clearance 3⁄8 inch minimum.
Maximum Height 5 inches
Puddy weights or other adhesives that remain tacky will not be allowed on the track or starting table. Tungsten putty is not allowed on any part of the car
All decorations and car parts must be firmly mounted to the car. Things that can fall off or be bumped off must be removed before the race. (lego's)
Cars with wet paint or glue will not be allowed to race.
No liquid lubricants or excessive graphics on cars.
Cars must have 4 wheels used to guide the car down the track lane. No Pins or other metal are allowed to drag on the track.
Cars must have a clearly defined “Front” so we know which direction to run the car
The front of the car must be able to rest on the starter pin in the center front of the car. V-shaped fronts will need to be modified so they can rest on the Start pin.
Cars that fail to finish
Race officials make all decisions on what may be done with the car that fails to finish
No more than 5 minutes of race stoppage will be allowed to fix a car during the race. Track officials will run other heats if possible then return to heats with a broken car.
Jumping of lane. Race officials will determine the order and rules to apply based on the situation. Additional run(s) will be made to ensure it was not a starter issue.
Modifications may be made pending rule 10.
Disqualification if the car is determined to not be able to race without jumping.
Heat pass if the car can not race in that lane without jumping.
Track officials have the right to deny a car from racing if they perceive it to cause a danger to the track or other cars.
